Our Hearing Aids Project donated hearing aids and related accessories to the Carel du Toit Centre for Deaf Children. The commercial value of the donation exceeding R500 000,00.
The Centre is a school based at the Tygerberg Hospital which facilitates deaf children to acquire speech and language through the use of appropriate hearing technology and enrollment in an Auditory-Oral Program. The hearing aids donated by the Table View Lions as noted by the Centre’s Principle contributes directly as an integral part of the program.
The hearing aids donation project at the Table View Lions Club, in conjunction with our twin Lions Club Frankenthal in Germany, provides needy deaf children in South Africa with new and second-hand/reconditioned hearing aids. This life changing project provides thousands of under-privileged deaf children with the opportunity to develop, and live normal lives with these essentially required hearing aids.
Since its inception in 2011 this Table View Lions Club Hearing Aid Project donated hearing aids in excess ZAR11 million ($1,1 million).
The Table View Lions project co-ordinators for this project are Gisela Weitz and Dylin Kuni.
